Update on Little Paul's surgery

First off everyones allright and home safe. Little Paul's surgery went well. Results were a surprise though. Little Paul did very well not eating or drinking all though he did think the chaplin who came to say a prayer was a waitress and tried to get her to take his breakfast order. He was calm prior to surgery but refused to drink the med. they put in juice to make him sleepy so he did get a quick shot in the butt. After they took him away to the OR Big Paul, Cousin Paul and I went up the hill to the food court to get something to eat. After we ate, Cousin Paul and I went ahead down the hill back to the hospital to get our parking ticket validated while Big Paul who walks slow followed (Big Paul weighs 260lbs. and has heart and breathing problems). Cousin Paul and I were inside the hospital when a Man came up to us and in broken english said the man with us ( big paul my husband) had collasped and fell down a rocky area on the hill. Cousin Paul and I ran back up the hill sure we would find Big Paul dead from a heart attack. He was laying bleeding among the rocks as EMT's worked on him. He fell right at the ambulance entrance. To make a long story short Big Paul was taken directly into Boston Children's hospital ER . he did not have a heart attack or stroke. The stress had gotten to him and he got dizzy and when he fainted he fell down the hill on the rocks. So I had big Paul in the ER getting treated X-rayed, stitched up and Little Paul in the OR. Thank God Cousin Paul was with us. He stayed with Big Paul while I ran back and forth through the hospital to check on both. Can't say enough good things about the staff at the hospital taking care of me as well. It was a very scarey time waiting for the results of the heart test. Little Paul sailed through the day. his ear tubes were placed with no problems, His teeth are great not a single cavity but we have to wait on sealents for his molars his 6yr. ones are not quite in yet. Still have to wait for results of cancer screening MRI. We did get the hearing test done while he was asleep and to our suprise found he now has a slight hearing loss. He passed the newborn screening but sometime since then either because of the multiple ear infections or the really bad blood infection treated with a PIC line 2 years ago he now has a hearing issue. It's a type which there is no treatment for. Some sounds are muffled for him . So next week I have to find out the best way to deal with it for him. I was reasured it was very mild and had no impact on speech development or in Little Paul's case his lack of Speech. I sayed over with little Paul at the hospital while cousin Paul took Daddy home and stayed with him. Cousin Paul picked up little Paul and I early and we just got home. Little Paul is running arould like a manic. Big Paul is bandaged up and proped on the couch in pain he's not going anywhere. Thanks for all the support the last few days. Can't wait to get little Paul back to school and Big Paul back to work. This is the kind of day I wished I drank, maybe I should start. Got to go chase Little Paul and listen to my husband whine, it's not pretty.

Hi offkilter,

That's great that everything went well for little Paul. Hope the MRI results come back fine. So, sorry to hear about what happened to your husband. What a stressful day for you all. Hope he is up and feeling better soon. Take care.

Off Kilter; Oh my gosh..... What a terrifying experience that must have been for you and your family. It was good that you were right in the Hospital Area when this happened to your husband. It was nice that Children's Hospital didn't ship him over to Brigham and Woman where it is so close. They are terrific at Children's. I can't say enough good things about them. That's one for the books though. I hope all the tests come back okay. Best Wishes to ALL of you

Re: Update on Little Paul's surgery

Little Paul was so happy to see the school bus today. Big Paul is back to work tomarrow and I get to enjoy some peace and quiet. The only test that's not back yet is the pelvic and testicle ultrasound-MRI. I don't think I'm going to worry about testiculer cancer till Paul is 14 or so. I don't think boys under that age group get it. Though if Paul has to have yearly screening because of his calcifications Maybe you can get it younger. Great something else to worry about. I'll have to look it up. Other then that all is well my way.
