To Raleigh86 from Jeanne

Raleigh86

This is Jeanne. I'm sorry this has taken so long for me to respond to your post of several days ago - I'm posting this in several places so you will find it. I've had a couple of rough days with the anxiety and could not focus my thoughts.

But I've been thinking of you a lot these last few days and wondering how best to answer your questions. I all to well understand your confusion on how to read Dr. J's book. My husband (dorkdad) did all the reading and would pick and choose what he would read to me - sometimes I could follow, sometimes I just had to ask him to stop because it was so frustrating to me. I too have been all over the place with the brain fog. Very frustrating because 'in my other life' I taught reading to struggling readers and now I find myself not being able to comprehend what I am reading. Lyme is nasty stuff.

So I have been trying to think how to answer you, without adding more confusion! I guess all I can really do is share my experience.

I choose not to go the drug route for several reasons. Mostly I'm against drugs except in emergencies (when my appendix ruptured I glady took drugs). But everything I read in my naturalpaths office lead me to take Samento. Tried to do that for several months but did not get better and it always made me feel so weird and shaky all the time.

By the time I got to Dr. David's my liver had started shutting down from all the ammonia in my head, heart and liver. This component of Lyme's (ammonia)is not in his book since it was discovered after the book was in print. Antibiotics (for me) would have been really bad with my liver not functioning properly (even though all the bloodwork I had taken showed my liver doing just fine).

Anyway, the first 2 weeks there Dr. J didn't even start me on anything to go after the Lyme, it was treatment to build my body up and start breaking down the ammonia. That was the Pale Spike Lobelia and Silphitrin for the ammonia, and lots of other stuff to build up my system. This is where it is hard because each of us needs different things. But going after the ammonia is essential.

The third week I went on the Microbojen and Borrelogen (plus other remedies), while still taking Pale Spike and Silphitrin. Had to get off the Cat's Claw.

When we got home, my son had stopped taking the TOA Cat's Claw because it made him anxious and he would get double vision (scarry when driving). He decided to stay on the cats claw (because he had paid for it) but added the Pale Spike and Silphitrin. This (for him) stops the double vision and the anxiety.

Mike (dorkdad) is using silphitrin, Pale spike, and the neuro-antitiox (because we had it at home, had bought it from our naturalpath before we went to Dr. David's). It has stopped his irratic heart beat. He is also using Samento.

On my Lyme protocol I am off of all my other supplements (except of course sleep stuff).

One of the things I remember Dr. David saying to me was if what you are doing isn't working, you need to try something else. That's not a direct quote, just how my brain remembers it :")

I hope this helps and doesn't make things more confusing. I will respond to your posts, even if sometimes I'm a little slow.

Thinking of you,
Jeanne

Re: Jeanne

Thanks so much for your reply. I have printed your response for further reference. This ammonia thing is new to me. I will have to research it.

Can I ask what you use for sleep aid? I have huge sleep issues and have all my adult life. I just responded to cjFTWORTH, regarding Valerian root. I tried this last summer. It worked, but caused heart issues. Once I stopped, the pounding chest stopped.

I am on 2000 mg daily of amoxicillin. I will be on this a couple more weeks before I add mino to it. After my last lyme appt. I came home quite discouraged. I saw a different person at the clinic. For some reason, I thought she would shed some new light on my treatment, but came out disillusioned. I made an appt. with a naturopath. I have never seen one before, but she came recommended to me by my homeopathic vet. She told me to stay on my antibiotics for a while. She did not think them to be too invasive with alternative treatment, at least for now. I realize that she will not have any quick fix for me either, but it's a path I have to take at this time. I told her that have spent the last 10 months fighting off side effects from all the drugs. I guess what got me discouraged, I know of a woman that had all of my same lyme issues, around the same time as I was going through the same. She is now well. I know that some people respond better then others and some suffer for a long time. Just hearing her news put me in a tail spin.

I have read all of the supplements posters have tried. I keep buying and trying them, wondering where to draw the line. I felt I was having some reaction taking so many of them, and backed off to my regular vitamins. It is so hard to know if there is one right herb or supplement. I will take my list with me to naturopath. I have kept kind of a journal of meds, side effects, herx, etc. when I meet with her. I might bring Dr. Jernigan's book. I don't want to offend her, marching in with ammo.

I will let you know how my appt. goes.

Re: To Raleigh86 from Jeanne

Dear Jeanne,

I just asked you in another thread exactly what you take for the ammonia. If you read this first you don't have to respond. I got the above info. I will have to maybe call Dr. J's and see if I can order some or check on what Amber's taking. I am sure this is a huge problem for me.
Thanks,
Maureen

It is a terrible mind game when you find out someone who has been treated for Lyme's as long as you have been is better and you aren't. That is what happened to me at my naturalpath's. Her patients were all getting better on Samento (TOA) and I could hardly stand to take it (it would make me so crazy.) It was discouraging, but also very scary. I was in truly desperate places when I went to see Dr. David.

When I left to see him I was taking 2-3 Ambien a night to get a few hours sleep (a real no no!!) But desperate does what desperate does.

I am now using Emperor's Tea Pills - (Tian Wang Bu Sin Dan) Plum Flower Brand that Dr. David put me on. I got them from him but you might be able to find them on line (I haven't checked I just order them from him!)

On most nights they are working ok which means I fall asleep, wake up 3-4 times a night, but manage to get back to sleep. A lot better than I was doing with the Ambien.

On the really bad nights I will still have to resort to a drug - I am using the new Lunesta. But I only used 2 of them this week, compared to 2-3 a night before. Good improvement. I still have a ways to go, but this is a good start!

Do let me know how your appt. goes. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Re: To Raleigh86 from Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,

It is wonderful to hear from you! I am fascinated by your posts about Dr. Jernigan as I am also following his protocols.

I am taking the Borrelogen and I thought it contained some Samento, perhaps I am wrong?

My Mom has sleep problems (from her worries), and she also takes Ambien. I am going to tell her about this Tea and hope that she will try it. I found where to buy it and will order it for her.

Please keep us updated on your progress, I am always thinking and praying for you.
