Sleeping on the floor????
I know I'll probably have most of you laughing hysterically, but this is a real problem to me. I'm a 24 year old female. Lately I've been sleeping on the floor, and kind of don't know why. I do have a bed.... just in case you were wondering...lol If I don't voluntarily lay on the floor, I usually wake up after an hour or so and end up going on the floor to fall back asleep. At first I thought it was the bed.... so I got a new mattress (lots actually)... tried a waterbed....air mattress.... egg foam shells... the sleep number bed.... and countless others... I am driving my DH nuts because of trying so many new beds. Then I thought it was due to my husband sleeping next to me(I've been married for 4 yrs.), but it doesn't seem to matter either way. This so called "obsession" with the sleeping on the floor started about 4 months ago. The rug isn't new either..... it's about 5 yrs. old, and not at all fluffy. I talked with my doctor about my problem, told him how I tried to correct it, and at first had me evaluated at a sleep clinic. When that didn't help he ended up prescribing me sleep medication which didn't help either. I sleep on my back on the floor. I tried a blanket underneath me but it was uncomfortable. As oddly as it sounds... I love sleeping on the floor!! I wake up so refreshed and energetic.... people just think I'm really odd. Has anyone ever had this occur or heard of it? Any advice that might be helpful? My husband is starting to get so frustrated with me, and I don't know where to start as far as correcting this. ANY help or ANY suggestions would be really helpful, and REALLY appreciated. Thank you!!!

Re: Sleeping on the floor????
Sometimes when my upper back is hurting I sleep on the floor. Its just comfortable sometimes, I wake up feeling great. It feels good on your back, neck and muscles, to me. Some people prefer soft cushions, some people prefer firm beds...some like the floor. I dont find it odd, in fact, if my room were cleaner now and had more space, I'd probably be on the floor too! If you like the floor and wake up refreshed, theres no problem with it. (when i tell people they think i'm weird too; when I had a studio and family came to visit, I gave them the bed and I took the floor...they thought I was being nice and didnt believe I actually liked it!). maybe you can compromise with your hubby, you can sleep on the floor part of the week or something.

Re: Sleeping on the floor????
i cant see any problem either, perhaps you could put twin beds together with a board on yours instead of a matress
some soldiers became so used to sleeping on hard surfaces during wars that they had to sleep on their bedroom floors for a while when they came home

Re: Sleeping on the floor????
Hey,
my girlfriend does the same thing, she just can't get comfortable in the bed....I have heard that sleeping on the floor is better for your back, and if you wake up feeling refreshed then who cares what people think, and if your husband wants to sleep next to you, tell him to sleep on the floor...if he knows you feel better sleeping on the floor then he should be happy for you, no offense to husband, i hope....good luck

Re: Sleeping on the floor????
I know how you feel, in a sense. I always sleep in my bed, but sometimes when I'm sitting on the floor in my living room, or my friends' bedroom, I just really really want to lie down and I find when I do, I just feel so comfortable, and it feels right. I don't understand it, it's like a compulsion or something for me to do this. I mean, my carpet is by no means soft and fluffy...except for the dog hair lol...so there's no real attraction to it. Like I said, I always sleep in my bed, but I know if I slept on the floor I would love it, I just haven't gotton around to trying it yet. It's a bit weird isn't it, actually I never put to much thought into it until I read your post, and I certainly never told anyone about it! I do this in my living room but never in my friends bedroom, I'm a little afraid of what he would think....I guess some of us were meant to live in Japan, where they have those floor-cot things.
