When is First Trimester considered over?

I am very confused with this as everything I've read in my books says 14 weeks (or 12 weeks past conception) but a friend and some here (I think) have said when you are 12 weeks your are finished the first trimester. Do they mean 12 weeks past gestation? Most people don't go by those weeks but rather the ones from the date of your last period. Or has what I read in books been wrong?
Thanks

Re: When is First Trimester considered over?

My book from the doctor says that at the beginning of the 14th week is the beginning of the second trimester but I have also read that it starts the 12th and 13th week. So who knows. So 13 full weeks is the first, 14 full weeks is the second and 13 full weeks is the last. If that makes sense.

Re: When is First Trimester considered over?

Hi girls!
Weepy and Rachel it is good to hear from you and I am doing well. Tired and lots of heartburn, achy and ready for Christmas holidays....thank God I get 2 weeks off!!!
So what I read was correct basically....12 weeks past conception or 14 weeks is considered the end of the first trimester. So I am almost 1 week into the 2nd....yee haw!!! Doesn't feel a whole lot different than the first!!!! I know it sure did with ds but this time the fatigue has gotten worse and the nausea only slightly better!!!!
What fun I have to look forward too!!!
