Question Nail clipping

I have a 3 month old little boy and it is SOOO hard to clip or file his nails, anyone know any "tricks" to it other then while they sleep because in my case, that dont work, I need to cut them, He keeps cutting his head up cuz he likes to rub his head, i put hats on him too or mittens but not 24/7
Any ideas?

Re: Nail clipping

Hi Junioursmommy..
I know what you mean! I cut ds nails while he's breastfeeding..(when i use the pillow) or when dh is getting him ready after his bath..while he's putting lotion on him..i find that ds is more relaxed.
Good luck!

Re: Nail clipping

It was easy for me to file nails when she was a new baby, but now it gets harder as they become more aware of their world. I find the best time is when she's relaxed and her and I are singing and interacting quietly. Sometimes I'll only get the opportunity to do 1 hand or just a few fingers...so I'll work on the longest nails and do my best at each sitting.

Re: Nail clipping

I bite my baby's nails. I know, sounds funny, but I was scared to get the clippers near his fingers. The nurses told me to peel them off because when they are born the skin is longer under the nail than adult nails. Its easy to clip too short and hurt them. I didn't want to peel because I was still afraid I would peel too deep. So, I bite his nails. Usually when I am breastfeeding which ever hand is close to my face, I nibble on. He doesn't move around and doesn't notice what's happening.

Re: Nail clipping

I wait until after his bath, while he's having a bottle. I wait untill he's about mid bottle (when he's really relaxed) then DH calmly cuts them while I continue feeding him. All other times he's squirming all over the place...he's 6.5 months, but when I do it like this he's nice and calm, and we have no proplems getting them cut.....

oh....do a search of this board for my nail clipping thread, it was about 3 months ago...it will tell you my experience, and you'll see how far we've come....lol
