Complicated < You Will Understand (question) Please Answer>
Hi, does any one know if there has been a survey or research into, natural medication (Armour) and synthetic medication (levothyroxine), the comparison and contrast between them.
What I am trying to say, is there any evidence that you live a better quality of life with the natural medication, i.e. don't die of complications connected to the thyroid, is there evidence that you live longer on one or the other. Do you still have the symptoms; if you are taking Armour or levothyroxine (I know you do with synthetic as I still get symptoms)
I live in the UK and wish they just did more research into this, we can't have any other option of medication other than Levothyroxine, we don't get our adrenal glands tested, before being put on thyroid medication, we don't get a test for Free T3 ect, they are useless over here.
I am currently trying to form a thyroid meeting group or something, I want so much to spread and make Thyroid issues and Hashimoto's known here in the UK, I don't understand why we can't have the same options that people have in the US, there is rarely any choice of having a TT even if the removal would make the persons quality of life better, I just want to HELP other people in the memory of my mother...
I want to learn enough, so perhaps I could make a difference here in the UK, change laws or something, I don't fully know, I just want to be able to help people who don't even know what a thyroid is, then they get diagnosed with something like Hashi's hypothyroidism, and the Doctor who knows nothing himself says here's a pill (Levothyroxine) take it once a day for the rest of your life, follow instructions on the box and away you go, and oh yeah there will be a re-test once in a while to make sure you are in the "normal range" even though there is no such thing, as we are all different, and if there is a "normal range" in my opinion it isn't even right, from the research I have done anyway.
Sorry that was a little of track, and I am sorry if that didn't make much sense, I am Mandy's son "Kieren" (Kiz) I often come on here to help my Mum 41, as she id not to good with typing and spelling, I just wrote this question and included some of mine and her opinions, IF any of you could reply I and my Mum would be grateful.
I really want her to go through with, making a difference in England on thyroid issues, I see her suffering from the symptoms, and want to make her quality of life better. The Doctor's here seem to not give a damn though. I am sure you know what I mean, you will be speaking through me for a while now as I am sure you can understand what my Mum is going through, with the death of my (so loving, caring and gift to the world) Nan. Her Mum, I am currently helping her write a story to post in the Death and loss forum, which will be posted in the next week, I will inform you when.
All I can say, is God Bless the person who created this site, and God Bless the people who help out each other so much, I don't thing many of you realise what a great big help and support you are, some of you on here really need gold medals, I just hope My Mum goes ahead to make so many peoples quality of life better, I will be here with her all the way, always supporting her...
I am so sorry I have gone quite off track here, just hope you can find what I originally asked, the question my mother asked me to post.
On behalf of MAD MAZ (Mandy) xxx
Kieren ....
There are so many questions I would like to ask, I hope I can get round to the
Thanks again (Big smiley face)
Hope I am accepted just as well as my mum was thank you greatly for helping her, you are saints. (She will still post don't you worry, like I said I am just helping) xxx

Re: COMPLICATED < YOU WILL UNDERSTAND (QUESTION) PLEASE ANSWER>
Kieren... what a wonderful son you are ,your mother must be very proud of you and your lovely nan. Im in the Uk too and l think we have it bad compared to some other countrys. Your Mam needs some time right now to come to terms and grieve for your wonderful nan, l havnt lost my mother but l have lost my dad so l have some idea of what shes going through they say time is a healer and it is but its a slow long travel down a long uncertain bumpy road..im sorry l cant help you with your question about armour and levothyroxine just tell your mam everyones thinking of you all, we are all here in our own way and can relate somewhat , the best way to start a group is to ask at your local hospital or gp surgery and if theres a group in the area they will tell you, if not they can give you some idea of what to do. Take care Kieren and take care of your lovely mam xx thinking of you all

Re: COMPLICATED < YOU WILL UNDERSTAND (QUESTION) PLEASE ANSWER>
Niecsey; you put a wonder smile to my face when I just read your reply, thank you. I will certainly ask the local hospital for some help, I really can't think of much else to say, other than thank you again, I certainly will leave time for my mum to grieve her wonderful loss; my Nan is mostly likely looking down right now and saying, "Why are you moping around the place? have fun" She was always the one to say have fun with your self, even though she couldn’t not get out the house her self, like I said, I (and my Mum) will be posting her story shortly on the other forum. Feel free to read when it is there. Thanks again. Kieren
P.S Is there any good Doc's up north, "mam"...?
I will keep you posted...

Re: COMPLICATED < YOU WILL UNDERSTAND (QUESTION) PLEASE ANSWER>
Thanks for you reply Niecsey; it's really appreciated, yeah I understand what you mean by "you get what your given with the NHS". But you'll never guess what my mother has done, she has started paying for me and my yonger to go private. I really want her to go private, but she says she can't afford it. Hi lovely is that, the sooner I can persuade her to go private, and make sure she gets some tests done for her Adrenal glads and Free T3 ect.
It is such I sad loss, the funeral is this Thurday so you can gather how manic it's been around the house...
Thanks again... xx Kieren xx
P.S If anyone has an answer the the question I first posted, I would be highly greatful, Please reply someone. :-!
Thanks again, hope everyone is OK Kieren.
