Blood Pressure and RSD

morning everyone,
i have a quick question. has anyone had rsd or the sympathtic nerve blocks affect your blood pressure. after the #6 block my pressure jumped to 197/110. pm dr told me to see my reg dr. i did he put me on meds. got my pressure down, when i ran out of meds he did not give me anymore cause i was normal again. a new pm dr wanted me to do another block. he said it would not affect my blood pressure but guess what since the block it is running around 179/99 to 198/110. have to go i guess to reg dr for more meds. i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with blocks or is it the rsd or the pain from thr rsd.
thanks and have a good day, sweet p

Re: Blood Pressure and RSD

From what you're saying it sounds as if it's the block that's making your blood pressure go up so high. If your blood pressure is normal with no block then it has to be them doing it. I'd be very careful about that. It's not good for your body to deal with something like that.

RSD can affect blood pressure by itself because RSD affects every system in your body. When I first got RSD I was running a low grade fever and I wasn't sick or anything. I did some research and a fever like that is caused by RSD. Pain also raises blood pressure as well. As I just said above, it sounds as though the block is doing it for you.

Re: Blood Pressure and RSD

i have had controlled high bp for 15 yrs. however, every since my first knee surgery (when they suspect rsd started) my bp runs about the same as yours . the dr's keep saying it has nothing to do with rsd- i say bulls**t
good luck, robbin

Re: Blood Pressure and RSD

hey, thanks for the input.
according to the first pm dr he said there is nothing in the block that should cause anyone's pressure to go up like that. i do know when the pain is so bad mine will shoot up but just for a while not everyday.
i do have another question. what kind of problems with internal parts will rsd cause? i have started having some problems with female things. it could be cause of stress, which i have alot right now. i have 3 new grandbabies. set of twins boys 10 mo and another boy will be 5 mo tomorrow. talk about stress. my son-in-law wanted a baby so bad til he got one now he does not want him. he can't grow up and take on the responsibility so he has found someone else NO RESPONSBILITY. this really sucks for all of us because he has been in family for 8 years, my daughter is also in optomotry school. sorry this has nothing to do with anything. i have just been talking to her on phone and i guess i had to vent. sorry again
hope everyone has a good night, sweet p

Hi,

I've also had problems with high blood pressure, but mine has nothing to do with blocks. I am almost positive it is related to the RSD. It makes total sense to me.
