Will dr. do a hysterectomy pms is so bad that life is unbearable?

I am going in to get my hormone levels checked so I am probably getting ahead of myself. My periods are 50 days apart and I am only 36. I feel like I am caught in a nightmare that I can't wake up from with my pms and am not interested in trying out a million drugs or antidotes if the answer is to have my ovaries yanked. The depression is horrible and I have had another chronic illness for 31 years that will never go away. I would like to adopt, but am actually scared that the pms would cause me to be some crazy mommy dearest. Will a gyno remove your ovaries if you insist? I also have to have an ultrasound to look for cysts. For those of you with cysts, when did you doctor suggest the surgery? Thanks--

Hi:

Having your body parts removed is not a good idea. Ovarian cysts are very common and normal. Unless they are large or the type that need to be removed, it is best to leave them alone. If they are the type that need to be removed, then it's best to find a doctor who will only remove the cysts so you can keep your ovaries. Maybe that alone would help you if that's the case. FYI, when they remove ovaries, usually everything goes because if your uterus and cervix are left, you will get a bunch of weird bleeding. There's absolutely no guarantee that you would feel better if you had your ovaries removed. On the contrary, it throws your whole body off kilter FOREVER, and raises your risks for heart disease and strokes. I believe my hormone levels started dropping when I was about 36. I recently got stuck with an emergency "unnecessary" hysterectomy. I would much rather put up with PMS and periods any day that have what it's done to my body. I know you're not feeling well, but you won't feel better getting gutted either. There are probably a lot of doctors that would do just about anything, but it doesn't mean it's good for you. Keep your body parts! Glad you are getting your hormone levels checked and getting an ultrasound. Let us know what the results are!
