Some questions and stuff...

I am 10 days post op and this is the first day it has rained. Wow I’m use to feeling the rain before it gets here but now it’s even worse. I’m not sure if it’s because I am not that long out of surgery or if this is how it is going to be now, I hope not. I was fine earlier today I even walked the stairs (3 flights) so I can work my way to that mile the doctor prescribed but since I have sat down tonight the pain is pretty bad. I hope it will not stay like this because it is supposed to rain for the next couple days. Has anyone else had this issue? I was doing well with the medications but I will have to use them more if this keeps up. I am going to stay positive as I have throughout all of this.

And this itching is still killing me, I’m going crazy. I have to wait 4 more days till I can put anything on th incision. I have been putting anti-itch gel around the out side of the incision making sure not to get any on it. It has been helping somewhat but it still is pretty bad. I can't see how those with more incisions could ever deal with it.

I was wondering if anyone knew the type of sneaker I should use for waking now? I don’t know if my needs are different now, I was wearing running shoes before when I was walking. I guess I could just try a bunch on but that is kind of difficult now.

The week before surgery I was very nervous so I dropped some weight but nothing like the last 10 days. In total I have lost almost 20 lbs since the swelling is almost gone. It’s crazy but it feels good I just hope I can keep it off since now I can start walking. I was also told that a high protein diet is best for my recovery, has anyone else ben told this? I am so happy that I can be active now after almost 2 years of not being active except for short periods. For those who do walk; how do you stretch with out bending? Before when I was able to walk I used some stretches with bending.

Thank you for your responses.

Re: Some questions and stuff...

Spunky,
Howdy , the weather doesn't effect my pain , never did but I heard people cpmplain before ,I would guess as long as that hardware is in there you will feel weather changes forever ? I could see why your sore tho 3 flight of stairs would kill me ! And that itching ,I found out to late that I was allergic to the tape , it made my skin blister badly and was really itchy

As far as what sneaker's to wear , for us poor people there is only one sneaker ,the ones on sale.. Really I don't think running shoe's or basketball shoe's or whatever else is going to make a difference for you.
Just walk , and don't over do anything. Walking is the best thing for you right now..
Glad to see your up and active again , lets pray it last.

Re: Some questions and stuff...

I am two weeks post op today, wow just realized that. Anyway, yesterday I was extremely sore as well, its raining here but never related the two.

I have heard that new balance are the best shoes for walking, but that might have just been from ad's.

I am jealous, I wish I'd loose just ten lbs dang. - Oh well I like to eat lol. And yes I have heard high protein and calcium, and frankly all vitamins.

The itching gets me sometimes to, but I wouldn't put anything on or around it, it will pass.

What surgery did you have?

Re: Some questions and stuff...

I don't have any shawley, hey this one might be rich ok. Actually I always prefer no shoes, in the summer I'll have like ten pair in my car as soon as I get in the car they are off. That doesn't work for walking though.
