60 Day Cycle

Hi All!

My husband and I are both 27 and have now been married for 6 months. We just decided to start trying to conceive, but I am really scared! I have only been charting my cycles for a few months, but I average anywhere from a 52-60 day cycle. I am most worried that I am not ovulating at all.....but even if I am, I am afraid it is going to be next to imossible to predict my date of ovulation.

I have never been to an OBGY, I just got to my family practice doctor for my yearly...should I go ahead and make an OB appt, or keep trying to conceive for a few months, before I get tested for ovulation?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated =)

Hi! If I were you I would go ahead and check to make sure that you are ovulating. You might even begin by asking your family doctor, but it would be a good idea to go ahead and start seeing a OBGYN, especially since you're trying to conceive. My OBGYN did a 21 day progesterone test on me to make sure I was ovulating. You could try the ovulation predictor kits at home, but it would probably be hard to determine what day to start testing since your cycles are so long. I hope this helps!

I agree with Kathy. If you really long cycles, and you are ready to start trying, I wouldn't waste any time getting to a dr. I also think it would be a good idea to start seeing an OBGYN rather than seeing your family dr about this. Good luck to you. Please let us know how things go.
