ara day splint farrar night splint

so i have been in an ara splint and farrar splint for a week as of yesterday. it took a few days but i am out of pain. i still deviate to the left and my midlines are still not lined up. my bite feels a lot better now that it is a class 1 occulsion.i still dont understand why i am deviating to the left seeing as how i am reducing on my left and if the disc is recaptured as soon as i put the ara in then it seems like that would stop the deviation unless it is caused by my right side being non reducing

The deviation has nothing to do with the disc. It has everything to do with posterior vertical dimension. You are most likely lacking more posterior vertical dimension on your right side (non reducing side) then your left. That is the cause of your mid line being off to the left and your jaw deviating to the left.

take care,
MW

How should the lack of posterior dimension be corrected? Or what do they do to increase the posterior vertical dimension?

I believe with splints, it's usually adding more material to the back. Splints are made using an articular. I hear that the DENAR WITZIG Articulator is very good. Fact is, Gelb 4/7 is a reference point in making a splint.

Glad to be back after i was temporary banned. Thanks mod.

Thanks - Adding more material to the upper or lower back - does it matter?
