Severe burning during seizures

The other night I had someting very odd and scary happen to me. I had a seiz. in my sleep and upon coming out of it I had a burning feeling in the back of my head and neck. It got increaesingly worse and spread throughout my entire body. It got so bad I could not even stand to have my clothing touching me. My hubby took me to the ER, they did a phenobarb level and found it was about 1/3 what it was supposed to be. I had been taking my meds. but had severe diahrrea for a few days and don't know if that affected the absorption or not. The doc. thought it could have been anything from a severe withdrawl, an odd seiz or maybe even MS. He called my doc. (he's 125 miles away) and he wants to see me ASAP and for me to have another MRI. They ran a miriad of blood work and everything except my pheno. level was normal. Has anyone ever had a burning sensation like this during and after a seiz.? The best way to describe it is like a very severe sunburn. It is better today, but the skin on my back is still sensitive. Thanks for an replies.

Re: Severe burning during seizures

I have had what you referred to before. It occurred when I was coming off phenotein. I had a allergic reaction and was taken off the drug very fast which caused some weird seizures. Not sure if that happens.

Good luck

Re: Severe burning during seizures

Hi

Sounds like your doc has a good handle on it. I myself am allergic to pheno. I have not had a burning sensation. My first sz was when I was 6, now I am 64.

Love Ruth
