Questions about EMDR

So, next week the counselor that I'm going to be going to wants to do EMDR...or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. She said that at times this can be very scary, emotion wrenching, and can sometimes feel like you're re-living the situation that is discussed.

I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this type of therapy, and if so, what was it like? What were the outcomes? Did it help you overcome the situation that was holding you back, or did it at least help you take another step forward?? I'm a bit nervous about doing this...so I'm just trying to get others experience with this type of therapy.

Thanks,
NVD

Re: Questions about EMDR

NVD, the more I read your posts the more I wish you would visit the PTSD board here. There is a woman over there, Beka, who does these exact treatments. I feel like you would get a lot of support over there. They talk a lot about triggers for your PTSD and the anxiety and depression and stuff.
