Question Up and Down Like a yoyo!

Every day brings a new feeling to me, one minute i am happy next hour i am getting depressed? I know its from using drugs for so long in my life but its really weired how quick it all changes for me,Have you other addicts had the same thing happen? I am also getting panic attacks daily and these monsters really bit the big one! My Dr wants to give me xanex .25 when one of these hit but i dont want to get addicted to that now, oh well i guess what i am feeling is real life and real feelings that i have been masking with oxi. Thanks and i look forward to any response. i am sure reachout can give me a quick kick in the butt!! haha Randy

Re: Up and Down Like a yoyo!

Randy --I will chime in first. Dont get to worked up over the Panic or the depression. I have relapsed 3 times and each time I have gone through a series of ups and downs. TRUST us, each day will bring new things, but one thing is for sure, that each day will bring brighter times. Opiate addicts really do a tune on the "good" receptors in our brain. We fool ourselves that we need fake "good" stuff to get along. But over time we learn to have fun and joyful feelings on our own. Think of it that way. start to focus on what you are getting BACK and not what you so falsely think you are missing. Its all natural to feel that way. I for one, never liked the feeling that the Benzo's gave me, so I can have a few on me during the recovery to help with the anxiety. If you have abused them in the past then you cant have them. You said that you guess what you are feeling is REAL LIFE. Its not. It will take some time to get our real life back. Think positive and start exercising hard. IT will help SOOOOO much.

Re: Up and Down Like a yoyo!

Hi Randy

No kicks today... just a suggestion...

I use melatonin for sleep now. 3mg capsule.

For the anxiety from the xanax taper and the nerve damage to the leg, I take Magnesium, 250 mg, one tab midmorning, one tab evening

Maybe you could spend some time researching these online and maybe give your doctor a call and see what he thinks. Would give you something to do to keep the ups and downs at bay.

See? No kick... just a gentle nudge.

Smiles

Re: Up and Down Like a yoyo!

I went through exactly the same thing. I am taking an anti-dep (Cymbalta) and it has helped me so much with the deppression. It started working pretty fast for me thank goodness. It is hard and nothing about it is easy until some time goes by and we know time is the hardest thing to wait on. Don't give up your fight because as time goes by you will feel better. I just picked up 30 days clean and feel great, and just 2 weeks ago I was ready to jump off a bridge. LOL!! Not funny then but now I can laugh at myself. One thing to remember is after you start feeling better you will be helping someone in your shoes. In order to keep it we must give it away. God Bless and you are worth the fight!! Never forget that.
