my 18 months old dignosed as Classic CF

hi,
We are from atlanta.My son was birth time report was abnormal. At 2-3 months we went for 2 sweat tests.
1) test reult is 39(right and)/37 left hand) .
2) test rutl were not able to produce , not enough sweat.
3) And genetic test found only one copy of gene (carrier) that is F508.
4) another sweat test at the age of 18 months and results ar 44(rhand)/43 (Lhand).

symtoms are
1) poor apetite literelly on Milk 3-4 oz and rice cerial.
2) Poor growth (20lb at 18 months weight 10%tile, height 25%tile)
3) constant cough i could sense the mucus is cutting into his throught but not coming out.
4) quickly gets effected to cold or flu.

What is causing problem. Is he a classical CF.

can some one share your experiences

wiht 2 border line sweat test and 1 copy of gene test.

what else i have to do to eihter to confirm or rule out about CF.

2 major symtoms are
1) constant cough and cold runny nose.


our main concerns was weight 5%tile height is 25%tile it is fine as an indian.

Based on the symptoms, I would pursue more extensive genetic testing. There are over 1500 different mutations for CF and mosts tests only include the most common mutations -- so 30-90 out of a much larger number.

DS' sweat test was a normal 32 at about 4 weeks; however, genetic testing showed otherwise. He tends to have more digestive issues. What are your child's stools like? Are they normal or are they frequent, greasy, bulky, very smelly?
