My name is Christie Grande, I am 33 year old American Citizen, I was born in Massachusetts, and have been disabled since birth. I have spinal muscular atrophy II (a form of Muscular Dystrophy) and never have not been able to gain employment. I received SSI and medicad from the age of 18 years old.
I married a UK citizen in 2006 and moved to the United Kingdom. Once I left the USA, I lost all my benefits. My wife and I wish to move back to the USA to be closer to my parents and family as my health has not been good.
We have called SSA a few times and they cannot give us any answers as to whether SSI, being reinstated if we moved back and if I would once again be able to receive medicad.
I cannot move back to the USA unless I know I will be able to receive SSI and medicad it is a catch 22 situation, if we moved back and they say no, I do not want too think about what would happen to me, and the stress it would cause my family with the worry. Please can you help?
