Question MA state-sponsored health plans and out-of-state care

I am going to be sending in the form to apply for the Massachusetts state sponsored health plans. I will probably qualify for Commonwealth Care or MassHealth. I only have a tiny bit of dividend and interest income that I receive. I'm unemployed except for on an as needed basis for a place, and they have barely given me any hours.

My question is if I'm approved: what happens if I am temporarily out of state for a few days (if I was traveling looking for work for example) and during that time something horrible happened like a car crash and I was injured? Would Commonwealth Care or MassHealth cover my medical bill?

I called the hotline and asked about this and they said it was up to the individual health insurance plan to determine whether they would cover out-of-state emergency care. It would tough to contact each health insurance company so I'm wondering if I can get a general idea of what is customary in a situation like this.

Thanks
