Worried about hepatitis

I have had a fear of catching hepatitis for some time and a couple of things this year have left me worried. First of all, I was living in a shared house for a while as I was studying abroad. I had finished showering and reached down to pick up my hair from the plughole and I got this brown stuff on my finger, on the nail. It could have been rust or dirt but also could have been blood? I can't stop thinking that it might have been period blood or something and I could have got something.

A while after that, I was at a bar and the glass I was given was not clean. I am not sure if it had been washed or if someone else had even used it before me. I was a little drunk and stupidly used it anyway. I asked my friend if I could catch something and she said hepatitis, not knowing how much I worry about it. She said she was joking but I can't stop worrying now. I got vaccinated against Hep B 2 months ago, but that was after these incidents. Should I be worried?

Re: Worried about hepatitis

with the type of worrying you do you should also get the Hepatitis A shots, remeber the Hepatitis shots are a series not a one shot deal.
Hep C requires a blood transfer and is much harder to get.

Re: Worried about hepatitis

I got a 'fast track' hep B vaccination, so I am fully protected as of August. I just need a booster in 6 months. Do you think I am right to be worried about this? My bf thinks im crazy as I have no 'risk factors' and he says I have no more chance of having it than any random person. But I worry so much.

Re: Worried about hepatitis

hep a & b are easier to get as churchkp says hep c however is only through blood to blood contact suchas transfusion shared needles razors , a cut or something like that exâmple if i had a cut and you had open flesh , or cut our bloods would hhave to come into contact also ther is small chance of it if your teeth gums bleed it could be carried on brush but once again has to be blood to blood.many people believe hep c can be transfered easily but my kids have lived with me 18 years and are all negative for hep c . which i was scared they might have hepc becayse there is a 3 percent chance it could be from pregnancy and i think 5% chance it is sexually transmitted . Hope this helps you understand hepc better and youare not so worried .
