Unhappy Too young

Hello. Im 33 years old and in feb. 2008 I had 5 strokes in 2 weeks. After all the tests I have lupis antibody and a gene mutation which makes my blood clot. Almost every day i have 2-3 mini strokes I stop breathing 155 times in a hour when sleeping and have a hole in heart (pfo). Its hard to go through life knowing i one day the strokes are going to be big or death! Does anybody have advice to get through life?

Re: Too young

wow thats scary, is tere nothing they can do for you?

m husband is 26 and had a stroke 4 weeks ago, he too has a hole in his heart which alloewed the clot to travel from 1 side to another and then up to his brain, he was hours from death because they dont like to diagnose strokes in someone so young, he is having an operation to close the hole is this not a option avaliable to you??

i hope they are able to help you

reedneckjj,

I am working through some of the same issues, but I have been been at for about 5 years now. I was 43 when I had 4 simultaneous strokes, which led to kidney failure, and I too have severe sleep apnea, as well as a few other "side effects" of stroke.

I force myself to make decisions everyday, as how I want to handle things. I consciously decide to keep my attitude positive, to enjoy the little moments everyday, be amused at myself and others, and to focus in on the nuances of life.

Do you have a family? I still have my youngest son in high school, so he is my inspiration. I want to see him through college, and launched safely off, for life on his own. Do you have such a person in your life?

I think good support is very helpful, when dealing with difficult medical situations.

Re: Too young

damn, sounds familiar, i had a stroke in feb this year/have hole in heart, the hardest bit was being released from hospital, they neglected to give me an instruction guide on what to do, so i understand, because it isnt easy, and i feel i need to constantly explain myself to every body.the poster abouve me gives great advice the part about doing things for yourself if you can, and feel and acknowledge the things you can do rather than what you cant..its a hard roadbut nothings impossible and the fact is you are still here.

Re: Too young

They cannot fix the pfo because 2 years ago i had a heart infection. They said I wouldn't make it if they did the surgery. To much infection rate.I live day to day. I hope your husband is doing good.
