Job Problem

Here is the situation. I have worked for Papa Gino's pizza for about two years. About 5 years ago I had surgery to help with my seizures but just recently had a relaps seizure while on the job. My doctor said it is common to have a relaps seizure then it is the end so Im not worried yet about that. However my manager at Papa Ginos is not taking things properly. He think that a seizure is a good enough reason to cut my hours into less than half of what they were origionally.
I started off doing just dishes there since I was doing school at the same time. then they also put me on delivery and things were great. i wanted to learn as many parts of the job as I could so that if they needed to call somebody in it would be more likely that I could be another possible name on the list that they could call. I thought we could use the 6 month waiting period as a time to train me in these departments. When I told this to my manager he looked at me as if I was asking him to commit the most horrible sin known to man. He continued hiring people to work in the departments that I wanted to train in so I told him that I find this action of his to be insulting. His reaction was to ask me "how is that insulting" (This part made me wonder if he has the required knowledge to be a manager). To make matters worse during the 6 month waiting period he not only lowered my number of hours on the clock so he could hire someone else to do delivery that I can't he hired 5 more delivery people and said that he can't give me my hours back at the end of the 6 month waiting period because of this.
I need some feedback. My mom and I are disagreeing. I think it could be disability discrimination she thinks not. In other word is a seizure (legally) a good enough reason to lower someone's number of hours on the clock? I also feel that the managers here tend to treat it like a click more than anything. They choose who to give fair chances to based on how well or not well people fit into the social click of the workplace and less on weather or not you can do the job. My feeling of anger toward this job has increased like you wouldn't believe and Im thinking of doing a post job corporate interview. I need some feedback. What should I do to make the manager understand how he has emotionally hurt me?

Re: Job Problem

All you can do is tell him he hurt you. Maybe you would like to describe epilepsy a bit.

Unfortunately you can't prove he did anything wrong. He didn't out and out fire you. He can say he did it because he wanted to hire more people or something like that.

Re: Job Problem

Sounds like discrimination to me!!!! I would get some legal advice and take it from there...

Good luck

What I still don't understand is why could he keep my hours the same and use this time to train me in the other departments I wanted to learn?

Re: Job Problem

He's a _____ but he can get around the fact that deep down he is blaming epilepsy. For example say I worked as a stock person but wanted to work casheir but my boss wanted to keep me in back so no one would see me have a seizure. He can say he needs to help because I'm good back there & other people can be hired to work cash register. I think he can keep your hours the same but not lower them. I could be wrong though.
I don't quite understand what you are saying. If you worked, say... 5 hrs at job #1 why would he really have to give you more hrs at job #2 ?
