Help us get through it

my husbands mother whom im really close to and love dearly is in a coma after a tragic accident. this happened a few days ago and my husband flew over 10 hours to be by her side. Im in my late 3rd trimester and my dr for now isnt allowing me to travel .

Its really hard being away from my husband at such a crucial time...he needs me...he needs my support even though he has family and friends around him..but he needs to return home to me where i can be there for him... she is in critical condition and the future is unknown at this point.. I've been soo overhwlemed by this whole thing that i didnt have time to think about her..about how i love her and how horrible this is...ive been occupied just worried about my husband who is very close to his mother...
How can i support him if im far away?
how can i understand that this is real? today i woke up thinking this is all a dream... we had such a perfect life...i had such an amazing mother inlaw and everything wasamazing....and one accident and our lives are tuned upside down and we are apart and dealing with this by ourselves far away..

someone help me understand and tell me how to cope and manage?

Re: Help us get through it

Can you email or speak to him by phone every day? Of course the safety of the baby has to be your first priority. You can also tell him when you write or speak on the phone about how sad you feel about what has happened--it will probably help him to hear that you are grieving about the accident too, even if you are far away.

Unless this is your 3rd or 4th baby and you have really fast deliveries, there should be some clues that you are getting close to time for the baby to come, and enough time for your husband to get back to you. If it would help you to feel more prepared, maybe ask a friend to plan to go to the hospital with you so if baby does come early you won't be alone.

Also, ask friends and family members to help you at home after the baby is born. That way your husband can come back for the baby's birth, but if his mother gets worse, he will be able to return to see her without leaving you stranded.
