Tooth feels crushed

Hi,
for the past month or so i have been wearing a mouthguard on my bottom teeth to prevent me damaging my teeth from clenching.
in the past couple of weeks the second to back molar on the right hand side has felt like it doesn't fit properly and aches whenever i eat on it or put my teeth together. this then causes pain in my ear.

i have been eating on this side for 3 months as still have unfinished work on the left which i don't want to bite on.

i also have tmj symptoms on this side, but can't explain why this tooth all of a sudden feels like it's not occluding properly. what could have happenned?

going the dentist in 2 days so hope he can help.
