Pain in Area of Old Wisdom tooth Pocket

The other night I bit down funny on a pita chip and I wound up biting it hard into the gum pocket that used to hold my wisdom tooth (removed 2.5 years ago). The pain was immediate but went away quickly. Later that night I woke up with pain in that area. Now 2 days later it is still sore and not really getting better.

What could this be? Is it an infection so quickly? I had "dry socket" after my wisdom tooth removal and it feels kind of similar.
