Maxillomandibular Advancement Surgery (MMA)

I am 54 years old and 4 weeks ago I had MMA surgery to correct my severe sleep apnea. For those who don't know what that is, it's when your upper and lower jaw is extended forward so that your airway is opened wider for better breathing while sleeping. So far everything seems to be moving along according to plan. Right now I am only on blenderized food. Doctor has told me I can move on to softer foods in 6 weeks. Boy am I looking forward to that! This type of diet can get so old.

My question is has anyone recently had this type of surgery? And how was your experience? The rubber bands I'm wearing to help align my bite are killing me but I know this is necessary. What's been more concerning is my fatique and tiredness that I feel most days. Is this normal knowing it's been almost 4 weeks since I had the surgery? I feel as though I'm sleeping much better because upon waking up I don't have the same ole feeling I use to have, as though I was hit by a train or something of the sort. I can get at least 4 to 5 hours of sleep before waking up. I honestly believe when I am waking up it's because my face feels like it's on fire and then I need to replenish my ice pack. I know I'm not a young chickadie...lol but was curious if this is the norm.
