Need Help - Went to SSDI Dr today - and he caught something else
When I went in, it was a typical exam, typical SSDI questions and so on. He had a dr in training with him and they both felt of my abdomen and started asking me all these questions about my liver and spleen.
They stated that I have a fatty liver which may be caused from my autoimmune issue (Rhuematoid Vasculitis). I'm going to call my Rhuemy or Reg Dr in the morning to see about doing a liver biopsy. They say it aould be autoimmune hepatitis.
What do you think? When they find something new, does this help or hinder my claim?
Re: Need Help - Went to SSDI Dr today - and he caught something else
Can't they do a blood test? My liver enzymes were up and they told me to cut back on drinking. swell except I don't drink. They did a blood test for autoimmune hepatitis and it was negative so they wrote it off to a fatty liver. My enzymes went down again. I have autoimmue problems.
I don't know for sure, but I would think since you already have a diagnosis, having a fatty liver wouldn't delay anything.
Re: Need Help - Went to SSDI Dr today - and he caught something else
I don't think the diagnosis would change anything. If it was causing you severe problems then they would take into consideration.
I was diagnosed with a Fatty Liver even though my blood work was normal. They had done an ultrasound. The Dr. said it took up the entire screen. I had blood work done for Hepititis and it was normal. They told me most overweight people have a Fatty Liver. They don't do anything about it.
Someone told me it may lead to diabetes down the line. A person told me that, not a Dr.
So I think the diagnosis alone doesn't change things. If it is causing severe problems where you can't work, then you can add it.
I was just diagnosed with High Blood Pressure. My lawyer said they don't care that I just started meds for it. They only care if it caused a stroke or something.
So they only care how severe the problems are and that they are so servere where you can't work.

Any new diagnosis, no matter how small, should be added to your record. Sometimes, the "big" thing is not big enough, but they take into account all the little things that contribute to being unable to work.
