I've been on 20 mg prozac 1x a day for a month for depression and anxiety, and now I'm up to 40 mg 1 x a day. It's been 2 weeks and sometimes I notice myself staring off into space, and then snapping back into the present. I am usually aware of my surroundings when this happens, but I just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone, and/or is this a calming effect of the drug?
Hi..I also was taking prozac and had this happen to me at around 4 days of taking it. At first I could tolerate it because I thought it was calming but then as I continued I started to have muscle spasms. I would twitch and and continue to stare off into space. I stopped taking prozac becuase I couldnt really handle the side effects. As long as you can tolerate it...then I think its ok. just be carefull and talk to your doctor about it.
I've never had this side effect you are talking about. But with every dose increase, is more side effects. All I know, is after about two months all side effects go a way. EXCEPT when I drink on Prozac, even if its just one beer, or one glass of wine.... i feel DRUNK. I hardly ever drink, and when I do, its as if I've had 10 beers, not 1. So just watch out for that... if you are driving, etc.
