I need help about this..

Lately i have been having really bad breathing problems, I'll have choking cough attacks out of nowhere, my lungs get really sore, i feel weak and often have a huge headache from coughing so hard. Past couple of nights i have actually coughed so hard that it causes me to black out and knock out for long periods of time. Also if i start laughing, like not even hard laughing i start choking and i often have sharp pains in my lower parts of my lungs. I also have times where I'll stop breathing for about a little bit less than a minute but i wont be able to make any kind of response to anything around me.
Four years ago my doctor told me i had a very slight case of Asthma, and prescribed me with an inhaler only to take when i had P.e. if i needed it. Most of the time i didnt need it at all so it was kind of just sitting there. When i would take it however i would get ill. Doctor also said it would go away after a while, and couldnt decide if i should use the inhaler or not. (i dont know what happened to him, he got moved to another office )
Since then i have moved twice and the inhaler has disappeared. Now out of the blue i feel like i need it after four years, I have friends begging me to see a doctor but i had my medical taken from my family and we have recently suffered through a divorce, house foreclosure, and reposed car and we have little money for food so basically no money for doctor visits.
I dont understand if its still my slight case of Asthma from four years ago, or if its something that progressed out of it. No one in my family has lung problems and i wasnt born premature, I have no way to a doctor and my school nurse isnt a really happy lady..

Re: I need help about this..

You don't inherit asthma and premature birth doesn't have much to do with it either. but it does sound like that may be what is going on. If so, you would need to see a pulmonologist, get a proper evaluation and then be on a daily preventer and have a rescue inhaler (which is what you had before). I would try your local county health department, charity hospital, etc or perhaps even call a local chapter of the American Lung Association. Asthma, at its worst, can be fatal. This is nothing to mess around with. I wish you the best.
