Autism vs. ASD

Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge as I ask: Is there a difference between Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder?

I'm writing a paper on the diagnosis and treatment for ASD, but am finding journals and articles that always state the word "autism" and not "ASD" within the printed material. Is there a difference?

No, and looks like they are going to get rid of the 'disorder' bit too. Jsut because you are different doesn't mean you are 'disordered' I suppose.
