1 Week Smoke Free :-)

Hiya Everyone

Little bit about myself. This is approx 4th time of trying to quit smoking, hopefully this time is the one :-) .
I have been smoke free for 1 week exactly today (giving myself a pat on the back..lol). I am using 24hr 21mg patch + 2mg Nicotine Gum (6 a day).
The main reason for writing on the boards today is I'm feeling that its really hard at the moment and I feel like caving in, so far I haven't. I thought cravings only last 3 minutes, mine feel like they last from the moment I wake up until I goto bed :-(. Does anyone feel like this or please share your experiences. Hopefully we can get through this together.

Re: 1 Week Smoke Free :-)

Thx Number81, I took your advice and it really does work. Thank you for sharing.

I'm at 1wk & 3 days and I'm starting to feel the benefit of giving up the demons :-)...ie..breathing easier, food smelling and tasting better. The only thing I've got to conquer now I think, is the boredom side of things, as I was a 20 a day smoker, so trying to fulfil 2 hours a day is pretty hard, but hey my house has never been cleaner.......lol!!!.

Thanks again for your advice and heres to a long life of being a non-smoker

Hi ttaylor
Congrats on quitting those filthy ciggies. It'll be one of the hardest but the best decision we have made to do
I'm at week 6 now and feeling great, it's getting alot easier and the cravings are coming less and less as each day comes :-). I'm just not letting my guard down this time and I'm going to complete each step of the NRT to give myself the best chance of staying quit.

I've been reading the Allen Carr book The Easy Way to Quit Smoking, it surprised me on how it has and still is helping me. I found for the first 2 to 3 weeks was the hardest, feeling agitated, short tempered, even lack of energy where all I wanted to do was sleep, maybe that was just to pass the time away I suppose. Now I have more energy, can breathe easier and I also feel more confident and don't forget being richer.....lol.

How are you quitting smoking, are you using any NRT? I'm using patches and nicorette inhalator + sugar free mints. Take Care and Keep in touch.
