I posted this in the CFS section thinking this might be the start of Chronic Fatigue, but it might be more relevant here...?
I’d be very grateful for any advice/diagnosis please. I’m a 42 year old male.
From what I’ve read, I would consider my symptoms fairly mild, but I do seem to be getting progressively worse and obviously wanted to reverse the process.
The main symptoms are fatigue (need lots of sleep), all-over muscle tension, unclear thought, groggy in the mornings, lack of feeling generally, oesophagitis, indigestion, sore throats, acne, cists, boils, colds, apathy, indifference etc. I'm very perfectionistic by nature.
I can still work and do active hobbies, and exercise does help a little, but it can be quite difficult and recovery times are quite long.
I do have occasional good days, when I do feel relaxed, but they’re getting few and far between.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the tension/other symptoms lesson when I’m ill with a cold or something, or (in particular) if I’m ever hung-over. I always feel much more relaxed and in touch with feelings if I’m hung-over or after a night-shift. (I don’t drink that much and definitely don’t drink to get hung over deliberately by the way).
Many thanks for looking!
P.S. I've tried antidepressants: Seroxat (made me "feel" like a robot - awful!!!) and Mirtazapine. Mirtazapine definitely lifted my mood and actually lifted feelings and positiveness, but it just made me so tired I couldn't function - even after dropping to half dose.
Multi / B vitamins didn't help either.
Meditation is very good for me, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get started - with having such a noisy, distracted head.
Thank you.
