Adrenal fatigue
Has anyone used an adrenal fatigue supplement that has worked? I cannot take prescription meds. I am on supplement now, but it contains licorice, which makes my heart race. I am being monitored by practitioner. I took Nasonex spray for 4 days. It made heart race more, so I stopped. Now, I am in bad shape. I tend to get withdrawal symptoms, even after only 4 doses. Probably wrecking havoc with cortisol level, too. Need to find new adrenal fatigue protocol.

Re: Adrenal fatigue
Have you tried Isocort? It's freeze dried sheep adrenal cortex and much better tolerated than some of the adrenal support formulas that tend to have a lot of added things like the licorice root. You have to order it online.
So you are unable to tolerate hydrocortisone? Did you try starting really slowly (2.5 mg) and increasing over the course of several weeks? The protocol I've decided to follow has this method (sorry can't name names here).

Re: Adrenal fatigue
Is Isocort prescribed by a doctor or is it something that we simply have to buy ourselves?
I was reading about the adrenals today and I came across people who recommended Standard Process adrenal support. I am unsure of the name, but I know it is natural supplements and I know chiropractors, etc. supply them.

I looked up the ingredients of the Standard Process assuming this it the same stuff (Standard Process Drenamin Adrenal Support 3700):
Quote:

Three tablets supply 50 mg bovine adrenal and 40 mg bovine adrenal PMG™ extract. Proprietary Blend: 730 mg Calcium lactate, defatted wheat (germ), bovine liver, bovine adrenal, porcine stomach, nutritional yeast, bovine adrenal PMG™ extract, choline bitartrate, alfalfa extract, dried buckwheat (leaf) juice, buckwheat (seed), magnesium citrate, oat flour, mushroom, bovine bone, para-aminobenzoate, allantoin, porcine brain, veal bone, carrot (root), soybean lecithin, rice (bran), and mixed tocopherols (soy).Other Ingredients: Honey, cellulose, niacinamide, ascorbic acid, calcium stearate, riboflavin, and pyridoxine hydrochloride.

I'm not crazy about any kind of bovine products, including bone and adrenals, in suppliments. And why on earth you need pig stomachs and brains is beyond me.
Isocort is something you can order yourself online, not a prescription suppliment.

Re: Adrenal fatigue
Standard Process was used by FDA to set standards for organic supplements. Not that it's supplements are approved by FDA. Their product is what I am using. It's the licorice root that I causes my rapid heartbeat. Licorice is used in lots of adrenal supplements. The Standard Process product I am using is by their Medi Herb line, for practioners only. Maybe it's stronger, but it's the licorice...they do have individual herbs for AF. One is Rehmannia.
