Question Adrenal Fatigue Pain

I have antibodies for Graves and Hashimotos, I am untreated and I am more on the hypo side. I also have adrenal fatigue.

This is currently the second time this fall that I have experienced extreme pain from my left backside in the kidney/adrenal area.

I was wondering if anyone else ever experiences this pain? It is very extreme and non-stop. The first time it happened, it lasted about two days. This time, tomorrow will be my third day. I don't mean to sound naive, but because of the pain, is this something I should go to the doctor for? I have an appt. next week my with my endo, but does the pain require me to see my regular doctor right away? (I have a strong pain tolerance and I tend to push through it.)

I didn't go to the doctor last time because it happened over the weekend and by the time Monday came around the pain stopped. I did tell my doctors about it so they could annotate it in my record.

Also, I can't find what causes the actual pain. What is taking place in the body that creates the pain?

Re: Adrenal Fatigue Pain

I just wanted to add that the pain is very concentrated to the organ within my body, it isn't muscular. It is also a stabbing sharp pain most of the time, but also throbs.

Re: Adrenal Fatigue Pain

I started having kidney pain about 5 years ago, localized on my left side and with periods of microscopic hematuria. The pain wasn't as bad as what you are describing, more an dull burning pain that was worse lying down. I was completely worked up for every known renal disease and for stones and something called Nutcracker Syndrome. I had MRI, CT, IVP, bloodwork and everything was normal. It would come and go and sometimes be absent for months at a time. I honestly have no idea what it is but it's possible it's part of adrenal fatigue as I've searched and it seems others with AF have complained of it. But the medical literature about AF is pretty scant and pain associated with it seems to be not documented. It's also possible it might be another pain that goes with hypothyroidism.

In your case, however, I would be sure to rule out things like stones and get the usual workup to make sure it's not something serious. Also if you feel sick or are running any kind of fever you need to see a doctor right away.

If you are normal on the kidney workup I would think about getting treatment for the AF and getting on thyroid hormones after that. If your Hashi's is predominating and no treatment you are going to continue to have problems down the road.
