replaing leaking implant

My fight implant has leaked, when should I have it replaced or does both have to be replaced. I had surgrey in 1/2004.

They all leak, or as they call it gel bleed, but you should have it removed or replaced as you don't want the ingredients to spread through the body. Often you will have encapsulation (scar tissue) around the implant. You want to make sure the surgeon removes the encapsulation before getting into the implant to avoid a mess in your chest wall.

Thank you. It leaked in July 09. I have had no trouble, no side affects. Can you refer me to a DR? The surgen tht preformed the surgery is not practicing now. Will the manufactor cover the replacement cost? Thanks again, Kaym562

Hi I don't know of any doctor in Florida as I am in Calif. There are groups out there that you can contact to find drs who are very experienced in implant removal. I do not know anything regarding if the company will cover the replacement cost. Your best bet is to contact them and ask. I would be surprised if they cover the fees of the dr. Good luck
