Male infertility: high estrogen low testosterone

I did make a post inthe mens health section however I doubt anyone will respond and felt the question is better suited here as we have been ttc 19 months now.

My husband was diagnosed with high estrogen and low testosterone. I believe this is called estrogen dominance. His estrogen is at 205 and testosterone at 75. Both atte opposite extreme of where they should be.

I'd like to know if anyone here has had experience witht his and their outcome. Namely, if you both have fertility issues and were able to become pregnant after treatments. He is taking 1mg of arimidex/day. I will hopefully be starting up clomid my next cycle my appointment is in just under two weeks. We go to the same clinic but he is seeing a urologist while I am seeing an RE I believe is her title.

We're at a loss. The cycle before last we suffered our first misscarriage, incredibly early. I went into a pretty bad depression for a week after, I think due to the hormonal imbalance that followed. Not sure if the misscarriage was me, his sperm quality due to estrogen dominance or chromosome defect. With our luck I think it's got to be one of us and not anything "normal".

I guess I'm just looking for anyones experience with this. We'd have nver in a million years thought this could have been it. He also suffers from varicoceles which irregardless of the outcome of the estrogen treatmet, he will have surgery in 3 months to repair as it is painful. On the suggestion of his doc he is trying the meds first and will do more blood work in a months time and follow up.

I'm a little concerned as he is only 23. From what I have read high estrogen is linked to cancer. He did a whack load of blood work including a complete CBC so I would hope that they could have seen some kind of indication of cancer.

Thanks for letting me ramble and any answers!!

Re: Male infertility: high estrogen low testosterone

My husband was just diagnosed with a varicocele. We are doing more testing before deciding whther or not to move forward with the surgery. My husband does not have the high estrogen/low testosterone issue. However, from what I have read, the varicocele surgery will sometimes help men with low testosterone. Did your husband do an SA? Results of that should give you some good info about whether fertility treatments might be successful (or at least guide what fertility treatments you should be doing). Sorry I don't have more info for you, but I wish you lots of luck and tons of baby dust!

Re: Male infertility: high estrogen low testosterone

Thanks for the reply. Yes he has done endless testing. We don't know the results of his latest sa as the lab didn't forward the results!!! So frustrating. His numbers aren't great but not horrible either.

We are currently under the care of a fertility clinic as we both have issues to resolve. I will add that he also has a testicle that has atrophied. The docs original bought was the varicoceles caused it but have now read low testosterone can do it also so is likely a combination.

His doc will operate but wants him to try the meds first but he says in 3 months no matter the results he is getting surgery as his pain is intolerable at times.

I'm gettin the impression high estrogen in males is not common. The info out there is sparse at best and all I seem to find are things about symptoms of highvoice(which he doesn't have), and man boobs. Hopefully someone here has experience with ttc, infertility and high estrogen. There's so little on this out there.

I'm getting anxious for my appointment. We are happy we now know what's wrong but I'm an information type of person and I'm getting so little info on it.
