Any ideas what would cause a reactive high blood pressure. Basically what I mean is with my first child I developed pre-e on delivery, was sent home then a few days later re-admitted for a few days and put on BP meds for 4 months. Very active person, not overweight, good diet. This happened for two more pregnancies except each one worse. The second I was readmitted for a week and the third I was readmitted for a month almost and ended up on 4 different BP meds for a year. I managed to get off them all with diet and exercise. So it would appear that its related to pregnancy, only its not. Certain medications cause it to spike for a day or so. I just had a hysterectomy and it caused it to spike after the surgery, it seems any trauma at all or certain meds cause a reaction and my blood pressure spikes. Normally its about 110/70. These spikes were 200/115 etc. My doctor isnt really interested in it because its under control now but I am curious if there is something that can cause this to happen.
My dad died at 40 and had very early on heart attacks with high blood pressure so I am extra cautious. But I cant figure out why certain meds, for example would cause a spike. Toradol is a fairly basic med but it causes spikes for me. Any ideas???
