Chlamydia and fertility

Hi everyone

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for almost a year now. Last week we went to the docs to ask about fertility tests and he said one of the first things to rule out is if I've ever had chlamydia. We both freaked out at this idea and seeing as I'm not having the tests for another 3 weeks, we bought a private test just to put our minds at rest. It was negative, does this mean I've never had it, or can chlamydia cure itself but still cause infertility?
