Can vision improve if you're 49?

I have a concern about my recent vision exam. Below are my prescription numbers from 2006, 2007 & 2009. 2006 was sphere -225,-300...cylinder -125 -125 axis 005,125 add +125. 2007 was sphere -225, -3.25...cylinder -1.25 -1.00 axis 175, 125 add +1.50 2009 was -1.75,-2.75...cylinder -1.00, -1.00, axis 180, 127 add +2.00.

My near vision was the main reason I went in for a checkup, so I can understand the increase in the add number, but why did the other numbers improve by 50 points...I am 49 and I thought that my vision would always get worse or stay the same, not improve. Before I spend big dollars getting 2 new sets of glasses I just need verification that these numbers could be right, not a mistake by the optometrist. Thank you for your help.

Re: Can vision improve if you're 49?

Hi there gcm! Vision can fluctuate from bad to better. I've had that happen to me. Not much of a difference though at first, but at one point I was at -2.50 in both eyes to -2.25 the next appointment. I eat really healthy after discovering I had hidden food allergies which I believe helped my eyes to get better on their own. Of course, that could be a bit of variation even with your new prescription as well. But I have since done much more improvement that can't be ignored and at the last check-up was -1.25. A whole diopter different. I use the Bates Method since discovering it at the beginning of the year. Relaxation is a big part of the method and maybe you have already been doing some relaxation without even knowing it! So I just wanted to say yes it certainly is possible your eye doctor didn't get it wrong, but I would love to see other comments about this as well.
