Worried about HIV after two years

Hello,

First off I'd like to say that I do infact suffer from hypochodria and OCD and so I have been constantly worried about HIV transmission for about two years now. Basically two years ago I was at a low point and had sex with two different males unprotected for only a short amount of time before a condom was put on. I have some contact with both to this day(as in I see them around with friends) but unsure of their HIV status.

I haven't been intimate or in a relationship since because I have convinced myself that I have HIV(from symptoms like white tounge, one arm pit pain, and some others). I know that you should never chase symptoms, but I do because I'm so terrified to get tested(talk about a waste of two years...I know it).

My question is, how likely is it that I transmitted HIV and I just recently had a Pap(and get one every year) and everything was normal. The doctor never recommended an HIV or STD test to me. Would he have recommended it if there was something abnormal looking? It's taking every ounce of me to go get tested next week so I can start living my life again. Sounds crazy...I know, but wish me luck for the confidence to take this test.

Re: Worried about HIV after two years

i was just like that but suffered for 20 yrs before i got a test!!! lets just say in the 80s it was a wild time and never was a condom used...not only was i lucky not to contract an std but i didn't get hiv either and lets just say we are talking high double digits for sexual partners!!! so i put it off and dwelled on it for years and years thinking i must have it stat wise but 2 years ago i had to get an hiv test for insurance reasons and it was negative. I pretty much figured it was at that point because my kids were healthy and older and no one really had symptoms anyways. My husband was also more wild than i was in the 80s! and he tested negative too. It is hard to go get tested and easier to just sit and do nothing but in the end it will just make things worse mentally, i also suffer hypo and ocd. I would be shocked if it was positive, i mean the chances are that low for you that you just may as well go get it done. The Dr wouldn't have thought to give you a test because you are severely low risk he prob thinks it is just a waste, but if you want to mentally feel better just get it done. Also when it does come back neg. you know us sufferers just obsess about something else right??? :P

Yes, I know what you mean. Once I test negative, I WILL worry about something else. BUT, this has been my worry now for a long time. I know I need to go and once I do it will change my life for better or worse. I have every syptom in the book. White tongue, swollen arm node before my period.... I think that is why I am so scared.
