Question about antidepression medication

I have been off medication for the last four years due to my husband losing his business and having to move out of state. It’s been a roller coaster for me with episodes of depression. I would feel really good for a while than I would get really low again and have bad anxiety. I couldn’t take it anymore so I went to see a counselor. See said to see my doctor. I never told him that I was bi polar because I get so nervous around medical doctors and haven’t been to one in four year. My psychiatrist up north always had me under control. My husband was insisting that I didn’t need to see a psychiatrist and is GP is just has good. Well I went to see him and he give me manic and lexapro. Now I feel all hyped up and can’t sleep. I’m messing up in work because I can’t concentrate because I keep thinking off so many different things that I can do and I wasting my time with this boring job. My husband works with me and is getting frustrated with having to fix my mistakes. The funny thing is I start to feel down by 3.00 and than I start feeling great again at night and not want to go sleep. My cheap husband keeps saying that are insurance is crappy and its to expensive to see a phyciatrist because of the co pay. I had lot of stress in my life the last four years with losing my mom and dad and I thought that that could bring on the mood swings. My husband is saying that I talk to much and can’t shut up. Sorry for this being to long but do any of you think it’s the medicine. I can’t afford to lose this job

Re: Question about antidepression medication

could you have excess copper in your system

zinc would balance this out.

having copper pipes at home or being on the pill or a low zinc diet

my brother in law talks too much and has gout - high uric levels

a low purine diet may help

lithium also reduces uric levels

see a naturopath or get a naturopathic book

thread worms cause toxic wastes which can affect sleep.

i find coconut helpful too

Re: Medication
I Ignored mine for years out of, not knowing what was really going on with my body. Tell your your husband if he want's the marraige to last, get you to the proper doctor. I have been close to loosing my wife a couple of times because of the mania. I told my insurance hot line what was going on and they had me to a Specialized DR. and Therapist immeadiatly. I am much more even keel, the mania side has far fewer episodes, but the depression side comes out more often. I am a quick cycler. I can be depressed at noon one day and be on a high the next day. I have even been taken off all the pills I take for the new Dr.'s (2 nd. opinions) and feel like I am a drug abuser in the DT's. What we have is serious. It alters our lifes and only some one else who has BiPolar can reallly understand.

Re: Question about antidepression medication

Some M.D.s can handle BP , but some can not. BP meds include a stabilizer with just a antidepressant you will be more manic and scattered . I take 5 meds took me a long time to get to where I am now with my meds. You need a doc who knows what he or she is doing. you might have to change docs. If the shoe doesn't as the saying goes. I have to go to a clinic for the mentally ill they go by my income and help me with meds too. my regular doc could not handle my anymore. Long story I fired her. So get the right doc you deserve it . Sounds like you need a little support too. With BP 1 I understand. please keep us posted, and good luck.

Re: Question about antidepression medication

Thanks for the advice. I tried to talk to him about seeing a psychiatrist again and he told be its to expensive and its cheaper to go to the Gp. I am so frustrated. Keeps telling me I’m not paying attention to nothing. I just seem to get worse every day. I just feel so wired up!
