Sleep and dreams

I sleep 8-9 hours a night. I always wake up tired and I'm sleepy throughout the day. I have 3-5 different complete dreams every night and they are all very active dreams. Is it possible to be so active in my dreams that it actually tires me out so the sleep isn't beneficial?
From my understanding, you dream during REM sleep. So if I have 5 different dreams, that means I wake up 4 times a night and have 5 different REM cycles? So I have 5 small REM cycles, instead of 1 long cycle which is the benificial sleep. I don't think I wake up completely, I just wake up from REM.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Sleep and dreams

I've have a couple of different dreams a night, but I never woke up from my REM cycle between each dream. I doubt you do.

Re: Sleep and dreams

Having a sleep study can determine if you are actually waking up and if so how many times. Sleep Study results are very thourgh .

If all this continues it just may be necessary to have a sleep study.
A diagnosis with a solution can be wonderful .

Wish you well
