Posterior Vitreous Detachment and physical activity

Just got back from the dr. and he confirmed that I have PVD. He gave me the run down on how common it is, most every gets it, etc. He also said eveything looks good, retina looks good, and this should pass in a few days to a few weeks (I'm seeing the flashing line). Anyway, he made a followup for me in about a month.

However, when I asked him if I should curtail my physical activity, he was vague. He said to tone it down "a little" so not to badly jostle the eye. When I tried to pin him down a bit more, he said golf was fine, but when I mentioned running, etc., he again just said to tone it down a little. I could tell he wasn't going to get very specific, so I just said ok.

Anyway, that's my question. What should I or should I not do? Running, lifting weights, tennis? Anyway, any experiences out there? Thanks.

In all probability, he just doesn't know. He's taking the safe option by suggesting you avoid energetic activities until the separation is complete but there is probably little empirical evidence to say whether physical effort has any particular effect on the process.
