Re: fustrated

See the Sticky Note at the top of the Posts called "Sample Home Detox Plan" - there is good info in there to help you. I would suggest you ask your doctor what to do about the withdrawals and what to do about them also. So many doctors don't understand about opiate withdrawals. There are prescriptions that can help lessen the severity of the w/d's

Re: fustrated

Trust me, once you're in the middle of the worst of the withdrawals, you won't care about having to take prescriptions. It's worth it to take something prescribed for opiate withdrawals, I'm talking about for three days tops. You WON'T be able to sleep at all and your blood pressure will be through the roof. Clonidine isn't habit forming, but it does lower your blood pressure and helped me with withdrawals. I also took Tranxene prescribed by my doctor for a very short period of time. Potentially habit forming, but weak as far as benzos are concerned, and she only gave me enough to take during the absolute worst of the withdrawals.

If you're determined to only do OTC, tylenol PM or something may help for some people but was futile for me. Hot baths help, as cliche as that sounds. Some people say that benadryl helps them get a little bit of sleep, but then other people say that it just makes them tired but not able to sleep, which can be even more annoying. I really think it's worth getting a couple day's worth of Clonidine or Seroquel even to help with sleep if at all possible. You won't get addicted to these drugs and they will make you feel a little less like crawling out of your skin, that awful, jumpy feeling that accompanies O. withdrawals.

Frustrated. My doctor did the same thing to me and the withdrawls were terrible and this can be dangerous, you should call a hospital and ask about detox programs, the blood pressure can elevate, mine did and it was stroke level. I did go to a hospital that has a drug treatment program, they detoxed me on suboxene. This is a really good treatment program as long as you use it for detox only. Some doctors want a 2 yr maintanence program, I detoxed in 3 days and decreased the suboxene over the next 7 days. I spent 12 days inpatient and refused to take a script home. What was the point, replacing pills? I have been straight for 30 mnths now and loving every minute I have today. No more worry about being sick, substituting 1 for another. Are you ready to let go of the addiction? The maintanence program might be what you need. I abused opiates for 10 yrs, they almost ruined what life I still have. I am sick and tired of being sick and seeking any opiate I could get. Still struggle with addiction in my head but as long as I get passed the thought I am ok, It takes time to adjust to living a clean and sober life again even after 6 months. These doctors so easily perscribe and addict you to this mess. Check out suboxene treatment. You will not be sick but you also can not get high on any opiate. Best Of Luck 2 you. Please work with addiction doctors and you wil be ok. Sincerely Free Today, Hope You Will Be 2

Re: frustrated

walkwithme - you should post your story as a separate post so that other members can hear it. The fact how it ruined your life while searching for opiates to feed your addiction and how you are now recovered would be interesting to hear. You are correct that you have to change your whole thinking process and life style one you have recovered.
