Mom's Outfit

Maybe I am being a little paranoid but my Mom, who has recently been diagnosed with early stage alzheimer's, showed up at the coffee shop today wearing an outfit suitable for spring. She looked like an easter egg! I have not seen anyone wearing pastel colors in the last 2 months. This is the second time I have seen her in this outfit in the last 2 weeks. I live in a fairly warm climate, but the temperature has been really pleasant and it is obviously fall. I asked her about the outfit and she said she has more summer clothes than winter/fall clothes. (That is not true) She has always been an excellent dresser, and has so many outfits and shoes that her closets are stuffed full. She must have 300 pairs of shoes and I noticed she has been wearing flip flops every time I see her. What do you all think of this - have you experienced any outfit problems??

Re: Mom's Outfit

The clue of developing issues with my Mom was when she would not change her clothes. Is your Mom on any new meds that could be causing her to hold water? It's possible dress shoes (or solid shoes) have gotten to tight for her. As long as her appearance is matched and clean and appropriate for the temperatures (not necessarily in the fashion season sense but in the safe sense) I wouldn't give it too much concern. But you might want to check to make sure the shoes fit so you know she does have a pair that would be comfortable. Then, if she stays in the flip flops as the weather does turn, that tells you something.

Re: Mom's Outfit

Just an FYI...this subject line gave me a real giggle! In old Cajun slang, "outfit" has a totally different meaning - and that's the only thing the term is used for (how do I put this for polite company? - a part of the female anatomy should do it). So I was startled at first till I realized there was no way it was being used like I was thinking.
Thank you for the giggle and remembrance of the old folks! Bonne chance avec votre mere.

Re: Mom's Outfit

it may be that the assortment of cloths your mom has is just to much for her to decide on what to wear... you may want to go visit and have a look in the closet and see if there is something going on. my mom loves cloths but it seems it is just to much for her to decided what to wear so she wears the easyest thing, sweats and sweat shirts.... they are easy and comfortable..she was a real cloths horse, her closets are full of cloths that will probably never be worn again...by the way welcome to our little corner of the world where everything that concerns you will concern us...
