Question Need HELP!! Lower back issues, 3 bulging discs ets

I starting having lower back issues when I got pregnant in 2005 with my son. I was told his head was hitting my spine and the pain would cease after he was born. Well it didn't. About 2 months after he was born, the pain was so bad that when shopping, I would have lean on the cart just to get through the store because pain would shoot down my left leg. I went to the doctor and they finally sent me to physical therapy. After getting a xray, the doctor told my my hips never went back in place after having my son and to do these exercise so it would pop back in place. THIS DIDN"T HELP. It is now 2009 and I am still having issues. I finally got referred to a chiropractor who performed an MRI. I got my results back today and this is what I was told:
I have minimal anterior endplate marrow degenerative changes; Mild relative disc space narrowing at L5-S1; Mild facet osteoarthritis noted bilaterally. And 3 bulging discs.L3-L4-posterior bulging disc, mild ligamentum flavum hypertrophy;L4-L5-broad-based posterior bulging disc, Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy;L5-S1- broad-based posterior bulging disc, Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy.

What does all of this mean? The doctor didn't really explain. He just said I have to see the chiropractor 1x/week and thats it. Is that normal? Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
