LEEP/ECC Results

Hi all,

After worrying myself to the point of making myself sick (which I know you all can understand), my LEEP/ECC results were Low grade cells and nothing from the ECC. So how did my pap show high grade cell changes, CINIII/CIS? Not that I'm borrowing trouble. I'm very relieved and don't have to go back for a pap for six months.

Another question: I had the LEEP/ECC a week ago today. I've just had moderate tan-colored discharge. But today I am bleeding....bright red blood. Is that the normal course?

Are you filling a pad per hour? If so, go to the ER. If not, then it could be bleeding that many women experience about 7-10 days post-Leep. It was explained to me that the scabs are starting to come off and they bleed a bit.

I'm glad your doctors are going to continue to keep a close eye on you ever 6 months! I can't explain why your results are the way they are; they sound like good news, though!

A Pap is just a screening tool, NOT a diagnostic tool. It lets the doctors know that abnormal cells may be present, but it's not nearly as effective at staging the cellular changes as biopsy. So, it's possible that you never had severe dysplasia in the first place and the Pap was misleading, OR you did have CIN III and it regressed by itself. That's rather common too.
