Update on my situation for those who might be interested:
I spent over 7 hours at ER on 11/21. Had CT scan (to rule out tumor) & blood work. Was first told I was 'suspected' of having Temporal Arteritis since I have a diagnosis of vasculitis already. That freaked me out because I knew that condition can cause total blindness in both eyes. It was ruled out through the lab tests though. I was about to be transported by ambulance to a hospital across town that had an opthamologist in the ER. Luckily I did not have to go because they finally located an on-call opthamologist who was in the area & agreed to come right away (it was a Sunday). Dr. Martin dilated both eyes & did very thorough eye-exam with 'fancy' equipment. He then said there was a "definite problem with the macula." I was so full of anxiety (WIRED as a suitcase bomb) I thought he was saying I have macular degeneration. He said he did not see any evidence of that but that I have a swelling behind the retina in left eye. Right eye looked fine he said which gave me immense relief.
Dr. Martin gave me his card & said to call his office at 8 a.m. next day to get appt. with his partner, a retina specialist. I called the next morning & they said to come in at 9. Dr. Creed dilated my eyes again & took several "pictures." Somebody came in & did a standard eye exam (looking at big letters & small letters.) My right eye performed quite well but with left eye I could barely see the large black letters at top of chart. There was still that large "brownish" circle in middle of my vision. I had an angogram to check blood vessels in left eye. Dr. Creed said there was a very large swelling & "blistering" behind & around retina.
I was given a diagnosis of Central Serous Retinopathy. It looks like it is unrelated to my vasculitis & is instead caused by stress or possibly the prednisone I've taken for 5 years (now discontinued) The condition usually clears up on its own but Dr. Creed said the blistering of my retina is "worse" than normal (thanks doc!!)

He will check my eye on 12/11 to see if there has been any improvement in vision (there has not as I type this). I may eventually need laser surgery but won't know for a while. This condition has a high risk of relapse but rarely affects both eyes. Reading is my life & right now I am unable to read with my left eye (right eye closed). So lucky that right eye is unaffected!!!
I consider myself very fortunate because it could have been so much worse. I am putting my trust in Dr. Creed & hoping for the best.
