Lexapro

I never read anything about Lexapro on this board. Has anyone been on that drug? If yes, could you let me know how you doing and if there are any bad side effects? My doctor just prescribed that drug for me.
Thank you

Re: Lexapro

Hey Laura,

I was on Lexapro 20 mg for about two years, and didn't have any significant side effects. The drug did, however, lose its effectiveness and I got switched to Pristiq after trying a few other options. I had no withdrawal symptoms from the Lexapro, and overall don't have anything bad to say about it.

Re: Lexapro

I've been on Lexapro twice and I don't have anything bad to say about it. It worked for my depression, anxiety and panic disorder. I actually started taking it again and I'm on my 2nd day.

Re: Lexapro

Lexapro worked to keep my anxiety and depression at bay. However it did have way too many side effects so I switched to Wellbutrin.

My sides were.

Weight gain
Loss of sexual desire
felt numb, no ups or downs.

For me the weight gain was terrible, I'm really athletic, I workout 4 days a week and eat incredibly healthy (no junk at all) and managed to put on 20-30lbs in a year without any changes in my lifestyle.

Re: Lexapro

i was put on lexapro 30mg three years ago. my physical anxiety symptoms left completely (no panic attakcs, normal heart rate, i was no longer paranoid when in public, etc.) it also did wonders for my depression. three months ago my doctor and i decided to taper off, because i was doing very well. but i had a horrible time coming off of lexapro. even reducing the dosage to 3/4 every day for two weeks, then 1/2 for two weeks; the withdrawal symptoms were HORRIBLE. i had brain zaps, vertigo, confusion, lower abdominal pain, constipation. i'm three months off of lexapro and my anxiety/depression seems to be coming back ten fold.
