Alone

Hi

I feel so alone, wandering through life. I feel that some people are rejecting me for having bipolar disorder. Is there still such a stigma attached to bipolar or could it be the paranoia in the illness making me think like this?

Thanks

Re: Alone

I would look more at the specifics of each particular person/situation.
could it be that they have rejected you because of how you have treated them (not necessarily because you are bi-polar)

hi, i know its tough to feel alone in this strange world....but i cant dwell on thinking about things like that or i get really paranoid too....and if people are rejecting you and they know that you are bipolar let them go! if they truly love u and understand you they would probably handle situations different, ya know well i hope i helped you out a little. take care

Re: Alone

There is a huge stigma. Even people who don't have a big problem with conditions like major depression, treat bipolar differently. My solution, which admittedly isn't fixing the broader social problem, is to tell only a very small, carefully selected number of people. Outside of close family and medical professionals, there are 2 people who know.

Re: Alone

My heart goes out to you Bethann01. I feel terribly alone and I have been rejected because of stigma. It is very painful. Even when my moods are under control, I am an oddball which I can't help and people reject me. It hurts a lot. I feel for you and yes, it is wise to just tell people you can trust.
