I have been having back pain for bout 2 and half years every since i gave birth to my daughter and it has gotten almost unbearable on the days i work. I finaly decided to throw in the towel and go see my doctor and find out what was wrong. Well i did my mri and now i am staring at the report going umm what do i do now. I have an appt with a surgeon tommorrow and to be honest i am scared to death, I am afraid he will tell me i need surgery and then i dont know how i am going to take care of my two year old and i am also scared he will stay there is nothing i can do u just have to deal with the pain! I am only 29 and i have to take loratabs just to keep the pain to a bearable level. Help some suggestions what have people done to help the pain or how some surgerys have gone

Hi,

Bulging disks in and of themselves are not necessarily a dire diagnosis. Please don't be too anxious about seeing the surgeon! There are PLENTY of options out there. I will keep you in my thoughts...

Surgery isn't usually offered simply for bulging discs unless somehow the bulge is compressing the nerve root on either side of the vertebre. It is also not offered simply to relieve pain, but is suggested of there is nerve root compression and since you only mentioned that you have bulging discs, I am guessing that you will be sent to PT for several weeks and given some core strengthening excercises. Those really can help but you do have to work at it to keep those muscles strong after you stop going.
I would follow the PT recommendations to see if they help. Back
