pre-cancer and immune system?

two months ago i had a pap that showed abnormal cells, a month ago i had a colposcopy that showed pre cancerous cells.

my immune system has always been amazing.. i only even got sick once a year which was always a minor cold, could have even been seasonal alergies.
but within the past month and a half i feel like ie been falling apart. im not letting the results get to me so i dont think its caused by the stress of it. but since then ive have strep.. twice, the flu, and bronchitis. i also found out that i contracted hpv and herpes in the past which are just now surfacing as my immune system seems to be crashing. im not sure when i got the hpv (could have been a wart on my current partners finger that was cracked and bleeding at one point) and the herpes, i figure were about a year ago. so im catching everything and everything else that was dormant is now showing up.

oh, i also had an ultrasound/sonogram done at my pap which showed 2 small cysts on my ovaries which my dr told me will pass on their own within two months, and to basically ignore them unless they dont go away or get worse.

long story short.. can precancer destroy the immune system like active cancer can?

ive asked 2 different doctors that ive seen and theyve both said its just a string of bad luck...

Hi ShaenaLee, I don't know about all of your recent infections, but when it comes to this, I don't think that is the case.

The strains of HPV which cause warts on the hand do not cause genital warts (nor the other way around).

If you were diagnosed with HPV, you need clarification as to whether you were diagnosed with low risk HPV (which can cause genital warts) or high risk (which can lead to cellular changes which could lead to cancer, in worst case scenarios).

I hope that helps a bit.

Re: pre-cancer and immune system?

Can the same strain of HPV cause genital warts and precancerous cells such as CIN1/2/3? Has anyone ever been diagnosed with cervical dysplasia first with the colpo and biopsy and the after the diagnosis begin to get genital warts?

Re: pre-cancer and immune system?

Hey ShaenaLee,

I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck!! I also have HPV and pre-cancerous cervical cells. A few months ago my doctor recommended I have the LEEP procedure done. However I decided to try three months of Beta-Mannan first, and I'm going in today for a follow-up pap to see if its helped. Beta-Mannan is a natural supplement that has been known to boost the immune system and also reverse the severity of cervical dysplasia. I will let you know if it worked after I find out my results!!

Good luck to you!

~Rachael

Re: pre-cancer and immune system?

Ok, just got back from my appt. and my doctor still recommends I have the LEEP procedure done. She did a second colposcopy and said she didn't see much change. She said I can wait and see, but she said the likelihood of the moderate dysplasia going away on its own is very unlikely. So it seems like Beta Mannan did not work for me, but that doesn't mean it may not work for others with less severe dysplasia.

I'm pretty bummed, but I know the LEEP is not that big of a deal so I'm ok with it. I'm going to call the makers of Beta Mannan because I believe their website states there is a money-back guarantee. I hope that's true!!
